British Talent Cup Young Riders Academy

Thank you from Banks Racing for your 2021 Support

Another season over and time to show our appreciation for all the support we have had from our regular trade sponsors, individual sponsors, friends and of course our rider Harrison Crosby who gave his best every single time he rode the bike. Also a very important thank you to team members Karne Conning, Alan Green, Colin Swinney and Jo and Jon Crosby. From setting up on a Thursday to packing it all away again on a Sunday we could not have managed without you.

Harrison will be joined next season by 14 year old Alfie Davidson and you can catch up on that news by taking a look at the team website www.banksracing125.com

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support for the 2022 season and we thank them for that. Like many others, next year will be a massive struggle financially because understandably people and businesses may not be able to commit like they have done in the past and we would love to hear from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2022 season. This year the championship allowed more sophisticated data logging and suspension which has added unexpected costs to our budget so please help if you can to give the team and our young riders the chance to represent Britain at the highest level. Please help if you can. To contact the team call 07762 428210 or click here to email Peter or visit the team website www.banksracing125.com. and PayPal donations can be left via the email address above or just call for a chat.

Thank you and look forward to seeing you trackside soon.

Crosby and Davidson complete Banks Racing line up

Harrison Crosby returns to the team for the 2022 Honda British Talent Cup Championship and will be joined by fourteen year old Alfie Davidson from Leyland. Alfie onboard the ex Harvey Claridge Honda NSF250R Moto3 bike started the 2021 season well during testing but was sidelined due to an injury to his leg that kept him off the track but he attended all rounds of the championship taking part in all the briefings and track walks and spent many hours in the team awning learning about bike preparation and data recording. He watched all the practice and races from various vantage points and is ready now to repay the faith showed in him by family and friends and looks forward to the start of the 2022 season.

Harrison returns after some great results last year which included podiums and fastest laps and his winter training will see him ready to challenge for the title while offering any advice and help to his new team mate.

Back of the grid to sixth in race one

Another great season is over with the ever improving Harrison Crosby riding in the Honda British Talent Cup Championship on board the Banks Racing Honda NSF250R Moto3. Harrison only raced in five meetings due to Covid in his rookie season last year and has been upping his game this year with improvements at every round in this seasons championship finishing 7th in the title chase only two points off 6th place. Two podiums and eight top six finishes and 142 points scored. Very happy team and can't wait for the 2022 season. Lots of preparation to do and many thanks to all our sponsors and team members Karne Conning, Alan Green and Colin Swinney, we could not have done without the help from those guys. Like others we would always welcome a little more sponsorship. Many thanks to P & M Photography for the great picture from last week's final round at Donington Park where Harrison came away with sixth and eighth places and the sixth was very impressive as the bike wouldn't start on the grid so instead of starting from his qualifying position of sixth he had to start from the back of the grid.

Silverstone GP, Snetterton and Silverstone

One podium, five top six results and two fastest laps A hectic three week schedule saw the team first race at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone followed by Honda British Talent Cup rounds at Snetterton then back to Silverstone. The team travelled almost 2,000 miles in just 16 days but the efforts of rider Harrison Crosby made it all worthwhile. At all three rounds Harrison was at the front battling for podium positions and also set the fastest laps at both Silverstone and Snetterton, Highlight of the three meetings was a third place podium at Snetterton. We move on to our final round at Donington Park at the beginning of October and after that preparations for 2022 will begin with looking into some fund raising ideas to help with the cost of refreshing our two race engines.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support for the 2022 season and we thank them for that. First podium for Harrison Crosby

Pre-season testing at Knockhill paid big rewards for Kent teenager Harrison Crosby. Continuing on from his Oulton battles with New Zealander Cormac Buchanon, Harrison was in a fight right to the line for third place and made it accross the line by just a few thousands of a second to secure his first ever British Championship podium. Race two was even more intense with four riders battling for second place. As the leaders started lapping some riders Harrison got held up and had to fight hard to get back on the tail of the riders in front of him. Just as he caught the pack a little quicker than he expected he had to brake a little bit harder and lost the front. Fortunately both bike and rider ok but obviously dissapointed but could make the long journey home knowing that he is riding faster than ever and now looks forward to his home round at Brands Hatch. The team will be racing at all of the proposed rounds of the televised Honda British Talent Cup Championship visiting such famous circuits as Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Knockhill, Oulton Park, Thruxton, Donington Park and Snetterton and running alongside the British Superbike Championship. There will also be a round at this year's MotoGP event to be held at Silverstone offering a fantastic opportunity for these young riders to showcase their skills in front of the best teams in the world. Each round will host two races providing us with a twenty race championship and we fully hope next season to again be challenging for podium positions as we have done over the last few seasons and we are looking forward to helping more young riders establish themselves at British Championship level and hopefully open doors for them to progress their careers in our sport.

Big points haul at Round 1 Oulton Park

Cheshire':s Oulton Park was the venue for round one of the Honda British Talent Cup Championship which takes place alongside the British Superbike Championship. Team rider Harrison Crosby had never seen the Oulton track before and spent Friday':s free practice sessions learning the tricky undulating track layout finishing the day in a creditable eighth place. Harrison went one better in qualifying ending up seventh. Race one he came home in seventh place after race long battles and improving his lap times all through the race. Race two was a thriller with the race action and overtakes showing live on Eurosport tv and on lap ten Harrison was sitting on the tail of New Zealander and Red Bull Rookie rider Cormac Buchanan who was fifth at the time. Harrison get ahead but Cormac managed to just lead over the line when the red flag came out so finished with a brilliant sixth place and the two Oulton races now see Harrison fifth in the Championship and both the team and Harrison are looking forward to round two at Scotland':s Knockhill.

Successful tests at Silverstone, Snetterton and Knockhill

We have now completed our test programme and happy to report all three tests were positive and both the team and rider Harrison Crosby are ready for the first round at Oulton Park on June 25th to 27th where we are looking forward to the return of spectators to the British Superbike Championship. Harrison had already raced at Silverstone and Snetterton but not at Knockhill and said the trip was well the drive from the south of England and can':t wait to return for round two early in July. The team is back to full strength for 2021 with data guru Alan Green back behind his laptop and Scotland':s own Colin Swinney who joined us at Knockhill and will be onboard for the remainder of this season. Karne Conning returns for another season with his invaluable help and Steven Banks may make a few guest appearances depending on his schedule at sea and is a great help with the driving, starting bikes etc. Photo by Bonnie Lane from last week':s test at Knockhill. Back to yellow for Oulton Park.
