Seasons Greetings from Bennetts BSB

As Christmas and the New Year beckon, MSVR would like to thank everyone who made the 2020 Bennetts British Superbike Championship such a success, against the odds, and also for the unwavering support from our fans around the world during these tough times.

2020 has been a year that was full of uncertainty, but despite the unprecedented challenges, we were delighted that we could deliver another sensational season of racing that could bring some normality and relief to an otherwise difficult time.

We have particularly missed our fans trackside at events; the atmosphere has not been the same without the circuits lined by spectators getting to enjoy the action up close. But we would like to thank you all for your continued support, with tens of millions of you who watched around the globe on television, and everyone who continued to grow and get involved with our series by interacting through our social media channels throughout the year.

Of course we need to thank all of the riders and teams across the classes, who remained resilient despite everything, who once again provided non-stop entertainment and immeasurable competition at each and every round; your talent, skill, commitment and professionalism continues to make BSB highly respected amongst all other motorsport championships in the world.

Congratulations to Josh Brookes on winning his second Bennetts BSB crown and to the VisionTrack Ducati team and PBM for successfully securing their eighth BSB title. We also toast all of our support class champions – Rory Skinner, Mason Law, Franco Bourne, Chrissy Rouse, Ben Luxton, Owen Jenner and Josh Day.

Bennetts are a valued title sponsor of the series, and together we have delivered an incredible season in 2020, and we would like to thank them for their commitment to the sport and to giving our fans special loyalty offers through their continued Bennetts Rewards programme.

Our sincere appreciation also goes out to all our commercial and media partners, who are an integral part of the series.

The Bennetts BSB show would simply not be possible without the commitment and skills of the Racesafe marshals, the race organisation and our outstanding medical team, the latter who have also been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic in their roles within the NHS, and so we thank them for their incredible work and dedication.

The 2020 season was despite the delay, worth the wait and the season delivered an incredible display of racing. Over the season there were an impressive eight different race winners and a further two podium finishers representing six different teams and five manufacturers to finish inside the top three – showing just how competitive BSB is and the robustness of our technical regulations.

The title went down to the wire at Brands Hatch after a hallmark race to open the finale on the Grand Prix circuit. As Brookes became champion for the second time, Jason O'Halloran and Christian Iddon claimed their best results in the series to finish in second and third place respectively in the overall standings.

We now look ahead to hopefully a more positive 2021 where we hope that we can welcome the return of spectators to the tracks. We have already started the countdown to the opening round of 2021, which will kick off at Oulton Park in May. We can't wait, because if this season was anything to go by, we are in for a spectacular new season. A number of key announcements have already been made concerning rider and team line-ups and new manufacturers across the classes.

And don't forget if you can't wait until next year then you can still relive all the action from the 2020 season over the festive season courtesy of ITV4 and British Eurosport.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Stuart Higgs, MSVR and the entire Bennetts British Superbike Championship team

Harrison Crosby signs off with joint top ten in the championship

The final round of the Honda British Talent Cup Moto3 championship took place last weekend on the Brands Hatch GP circuit. This was another new track for Harrison to learn and cold temperatures and damp tracks made that job a little harder than we would have liked. Harrison dug deep having two strong races again in a group racing for 7th place finishing with a best position of 11th. With several new circuits learnt and having to ride in very difficult conditions he finished a very creditable joint 10th in the championship which was a job well done by Harrison and we look forward to a good season next year where we are sure podiums will be on the cards. Thank you to all our loyal sponsors in this difficult year, without your help this year would not have been possible.

The team will be back next year racing at all of the proposed rounds of the televised Honda British Talent Cup Championship visiting such famous circuits as Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Knockhill, Donington Park and Snetterton and running alongside the British Superbike Championship. Each round will host two races providing us with a twenty race championship and we fully hope next season to again be challenging for podium positions as we have done over the last few seasons and we are looking forward to helping more young riders establish themselves at British Championship level and hopefully open doors for them to progress their careers in our sport.

Nothing is more important than everyone's health but we have been able to get half a season's racing in from August and this will go part way to make up for all the winters financial investment with engine rebuilds and updated parts that have up to the first test in July had not turned a wheel. Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support for the remainder of 2020 and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2021 season. This year the championship allows more sophisticated data logging and suspension which has added unexpected costs to our budget so please help if you can to give the team and our young riders the chance to represent Britain at the highest level. Please help if you can.

A difficult Donington but lots of positives and points

Harrison Crosby had to endure some pretty difficult conditions at round four of the Honda British Talent Cup race at Donington Park. Fridays free practice 1 was dry but cold and Harrison set about learning the long GP track ending the session 12th out of 27 riders. Free practice 2 started dry but after only four laps in it started raining ending the session early. Saturday weather was so bad qualifying was cancelled but all riders were given a ten minute warm up session. This was the first time Harrison had rode the Moto3 in the heavy rain and unfortunately crashed out early in the session. A quick repair with the help of Steven Banks got the bike back on track for race one again held in very wet conditions. Harrison's job for this race was to build up and learn from others how to ride in the wet. He did a great job getting faster and faster and came home in eleventh place. Sunday's race two was straight into the race with no warm up and as we went to the grid the track started dryng. The race started with several different tyre choices, ours was slick rear and wet front which became a bit of a struggle as the track dried out but Harrison dug deep and brought the bike home in 10th place with a total of eleven points. Frusrating weekend but so much was learnt.

The team will be racing at all of the proposed rounds of the televised British Talent Cup Championship visiting such famous circuits as Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Donington Park and Snetterton and running alongside the British Superbike Championship. Harrison Crosby getting closer to the front

For round three of the 2020 Honda British Talent Cup Championship the team made the 550 mile round trip to Silverstone. Day one and BSB rookie Harrison ended up sixth in FP1 and was looking likely to qualify sixth on the Saturday when his session was cut short with a ninety miles an hour crash, thankfully although very sore no major injuries. Both the Saturday and Sunday races were similar for Harrison in a twelve bike group racing for sixth place just a few seconds behind the leading bunch of five. Harrison made it to the front of the group in both races holding sixth place on several laps. A slide in race one meant he lost a couple of places on the last lap and the Sunday race was red flagged with again Harrison just missing out on sixth place. Great team work by Karne Conning and Steven Banks to get the bike ready for the first race after the qualifying crash.

The team will be racing at all of the proposed rounds of the televised British Talent Cup Championship visiting such famous circuits as Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Donington Park and Snetterton and running alongside the British Superbike Championship. Each round will host two races providing us with a ten race championship and we fully hope this season to again be challenging for podium positions as we have done over the last few seasons and we are looking forward to helping more young riders establish themselves at British Championship level and hopefully open doors for them to progress their careers in our sport.

Impressive performance from rookie Harrison Crosby

Round two of the British Talent Cup was held at a very windy Snetterton circuit and rookie Harrison Crosby rode to a couple of hard fought seventh places. With the top six more experienced riders just edging away at the front Harrison swapped places the whole of both races including some brilliant over taking moves captured live on tv. We move onto Silverstone for round three and Harrison will be feeling confident after a successful days testing there last month. Harrison currently lies eighth in the championship out of twenty six riders, many who have been riding the Honda NSF250R Moto3 bikes for two years or more. Many thanks to Bonnie Lane for the amazing pictures.

Point scoring debut for Harrison Crosby at Donington Park

After a long wait the British Superbike Championship finally got under way at Donington Park. New rider Harrison Crosby made his debut in round one of the Dorna British Talent Cup Championship and gave a very creditable performance in both races. Race one on Saturday Harrison was still learning the circuit and after a slow start battled his way through to eleventh place out of twenty five riders bringing home five championship points. Race two on Sunday was a little cooler but still another almost fifty mile race. Harrison again was a little slow off the line but soon was engaged in a place swapping battle for seventh place finally crossing the line ninth but only two seconds behind the sixth place rider and bringing home another seven points. Next round is at Snetterton and once Harrison learns another new circuit he will again be challenging for big points to add to his tally.

Exciting test day at Silverstone with Harrison Crosby

After months of waiting the BSB team put on a great test day for the British Talent Cup riders at a very hot and sunny Silverstone. The day went really well with everyone following the new Covid 19 guidelines and our rider for this year's British Talent Cup Championship Harrison Crosby excelled in every session. Session one was all about learning a new track, something Harrison will have to do at all the scheduled rounds this year. By session three Harrison was up to speed and improving his lap times and at the end of the day finished the final run in eighth place out of twenty four riders and most of the riders ahead of him already had previous Silverstone track time.
