Exciting times for Banks Racing in 2020

With the 2020 BSB British Talent Cup Championship season fast approaching we are happy to announce the arrival of 13 years old Harrison Crosby from Ashford to the team. Harrison has had many successes in the Metrakit GP70 championship but now like several of his racing compatriots face the challenge of stepping up to the new format British Talent Cup Championship riding one of our Honda NSF250R Moto3 machine. The first year will almost certainly be hard for all these young riders but this is the idea of the new championship format with a goal of moving on to the Spanish Junior World Championship or Red Bull Rookies Cup and now gives a clearer path similar to Spain to promote our young riders on the road to MotoGP.

As a team we are proud to be in a position to help young riders grow and learn and watch them become the stars of the future both at home and abroad. Picture is Harrison doing some pre season training in France.

The team will be racing at all ten rounds of the televised British Talent Cup Championship visiting such famous circuits as Brands Hatch, Assen, Oulton Park and Knockhill plus just about every other major circuit in the United Kingdom. Each round will host two races providing us with a twenty race championship and we fully hope this season to again be challenging for podium positions as we have done over the last few seasons and we are looking forward to helping more young riders establish themselves at British Championship level and hopefully open doors for them to progress their careers in our sport.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support for 2020 and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2020 season. Please help if you can to give the team and our young riders the chance to represent Britain at the highest level. To contact the team call 07762 428210 or click here to email Peter or visit the team website. Our Facebook pages are "Pete Banks" and "Banks Racing Pete Banks" and PayPal donations can be left via the email address above or just call for a chat. Thank you.

Season Finale and now for 2020

With our 2019 Motostar season now over we are announcing our plans for 2020 British Talent Cup Championship.

We will be entering two bikes next season and would like to hear from any rider who may be thinking about riding in this championship which is offering prizes including a Junior World Championship ride and Red Bull Rookies rides amongst others so if your ambitions are to make it to Europe in the next few seasons what better place to start in the new format British Talent Cup which is a ten round championship at BSB with one round taking place at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Charlie Farrer riding one of our bikes this year never finished below fourth in any races, set pole position and a new lap record at Knockhill and was battling for the podium in every race.

Please send a private message including your email address to me via Facebook or email direct. To contact the team call 07762 428210 or click here to email Peter or visit the team website.

Josh Corner and Harry Cook take up wildcard rides

Banks Racing are pleased to announce the arrival of Josh Corner who will be our wildcard rider for Donington Park and Harry Cook who will take up the wildcard option for the final round of the Hel Motostar British Championships at Brands Hatch over the weekend of October 18th, 19th and 20th. We look forward to working with both Josh who returns to the track after some time away and Harry whose sole plan at Brands Hatch is to purely gain some insight and experience of the Honda NSF250R Moto3 bike in readiness for a full season of racing in 2020. Below is Harry and right is Josh.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2019/2020 seasons where our plan will be to provide a stepping stone for two young riders competing in the new format British Talent Cup. The championship will be very similar to the current Motostar Championship but with riders aged from 12 to 17 who are hoping to make the move to the Spanish or World Championships. Dorna, the boss of MotoGP will have representatives at all of the rounds to offer advice and words of encouragement to all riders. The championship will be held over ten rounds, nine as a support class at the British Superbike Championship and one at the British MotoGP Grand Prix.

Please help if you can to give the team and our riders the chance to represent Britain at the highest level. To contact the team call 07762 428210 or click here to email Peter or visit the team website. We would welcome a major backer that would allow us to upgrade to the latest machinery which could be decorated in colours and design of their choice.

There are eighteen races in our championship this year and there will be twenty next year with most of them televised both in the UK, Europe and worldwide. British Superbike meetings have crowds up to and over 30,000 people on the day plus live TV and media coverage. The switch over to Moto3 bikes has been expensive and the costs are still ongoing but we are determined to stay at the front and would welcome some additional support. Every little bit will really help and go to make the bikes the best we can for the 2020 season and there is still plenty room for more advertising on the bikes bodywork. PayPal donations are also most welcome and can be made via the website to the above email address.

Great finish at Cadwell Park

Why not keep up with the team on Facebook for the very latest up to date news and what happens

At the recent Cadwell Park Motostar round Charlie Farrer qualified on the front row in 3rd place and finished 4th in both races and now lies 5th in the championship only 6 points behind 4th place. Seven days later Charlie was in action again this time in the British Talent Cup round at the Silverstone Grand Prix where Charlie shone at the front in both races leading several times in race two finally missing out on the podium by fractions of a second. Silverstone was the final round of the British Talent Cup and after the conclusion of that series Charlie and his family decided to withdraw from the remaining rounds of the Motostar Championship. Charlie was never lower than 4th in any Motostar race and set a class lap record at Knockhill and we here at Banks Racing wish Charlie all the best at whatever he chooses to do next and thank him for all the results he brought to the team.

If anyone is interested in taking Charlie's place please send a private message or email Pete by clicking here, alternatively click here for full contact details and visit the team website.

Thanks to Jade Goodison for the great photo of Charlie at Cadwell Park.

Lap record, pole position and top four finish

Knockhill was a meeting of mixed fortunes for Charlie Farrer. In the very first practice session Charlie was fastest rider on track and he backed that up with a pole position for the main race on Sunday but a spectacular crash in Saturdays race saw both Charlie and his Banks Racing/MotoEngineering Honda Moto3 bike very second hand heading into Sunday's race. Charlie had just taken the lead when the rear came round and high sided him out of Clark corner with the bike doing several end over end somersaults before coming to a rest. While Charlie went off to rest and recuperate to give him the best chance of being fit for the next day the team worked for many hours repairing the bike and then when it was finally together the bike would not start so another two hours changing components and it was not till the last thing we had left to try that the bike fired up much to the relief of the team. With neither the bike or Charlie in A1 condition for the Sunday race we were just hoping for a point scoring finish but Charlie dug deep and ran with the front three riders swapping places several times and brought the bike home in a close finish missing out on a podium by a tenth of a second. Many thanks to Charlie for getting back out there and also thanks to all the team who stayed late to give Charlie the chance to ride on Sunday.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2019 season. Podium for Charlie Farrer at Brands Hatch

Charlie Farrer riding the Banks Racing/MotoEngineering backed Honda NSF250R Moto3 celebrated his first race on the bike with a third place podium narrowly missing out on second place by a fraction of a second. Charlie, who had qualified in second position and battled the whole race with Cameron Horseman with the pair entertaining the large crowd with several changes of position. Race two did not go so well with the bike cutting out on the first lap leaving Charlie stranded out on the track. Once the bike was returned annoyingly the bike started straight up and ran for about ten minutes without stopping. Much work is going on checking every possible thing to make sure the bike is ready for this weekend's round at Knockhill in Scotland, a circuit where Charlie tested earlier in the year. Many thanks to David Watson and Chris Pearce for the photos.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2019 season. Productive test for Charlie Farrer at Knockhill

The team headed 130 miles north to Scotland's superb Knockhill track last weekend where County Durham youngster Charlie Farrer got to try out the Honda NSF250R Moto3 bike he will ride in this year's Hel Motostar British Championships. The day started cold and damp but Charlie was keen to go out in the first session to get the refreshed engine run in. The second session was damp too and the conditions favoured some more running in which Charlie completed very well. The afternoon sessions were cold but dry and with slick tyres fitted Charlie set about working on a dry set-up and after fifteen laps came in happy with the bike and no changes needed for the final dry session. Charlie will also be competing in this year's British Talent Cup Championship, a series promoted by MotoGP organisers Dorna.

Sadly we have had to sell our ex Maverick Vinales FTR KTM Moto3 bike to raise some money to allow us to continue this season in the more cost effective Honda Moto3 championship. We did our best with the FTR Moto3 but the running costs were more than our small family team could manage.

The team will be racing at all nine rounds of the televised British Motostar Championship visiting such famous circuits as Brands Hatch, Assen, Oulton Park, Cadwell Park and Knockhill plus just about every other major circuit in the United Kingdom. Each round will host two races providing us with an eighteen race championship and we fully expect this season to again be challenging for podium positions as we have done over the last few seasons and we are looking forward to helping more young riders establish themselves at British Championship level and hopefully open doors for them to progress their careers in our sport.

Exciting times for Banks Racing in 2019

With the 2019 BSB British Motostar Championship season fast approaching we are happy to announce the arrival of sixteen year old Charlie Farrer from County Durham to the team. Charlie, who will also take part in the prestigious British Talent Cup Championship joins the team after a season in the Superstock 600 class and he also took part in last year's inaugural British Talent Cup but for 2019 Charlie wants to focus solely on riding the Honda NSF250R Moto3 bikes in both the Motostar and BTC championships where both machines are very similar and this will maximise his chances of success in both championships. Picture shows Charlie in action on board the Honda NSF250R last year.

Sadly we have had to sell our ex Maverick Vinales FTR Moto3 bike to raise some money to allow us to continue this season in the more cost effective Honda Moto3 championship. Thank you from Banks Racing for your 2018 support.

Another season over and time to show our appreciation for all the support we have had from our regular trade sponsors, individual sponsors, friends and of course our riders, Ed Rendell, Ross Maguire and Sam Laffins who gave their best every single time they rode the bikes.

Sadly we have had to put our ex Maverick Vinales FTR Moto3 bike up for sale hoping to raise some money to allow us to run two bikes next season in the more cost effective standard Honda Moto3 championship. We did our best with the FTR Moto3 but the running costs were more than our small family team could manage. Please get in touch if you are interested in the bike.

The team will be racing at all nine rounds of the televised British Motostar Championship visiting such famous circuits as Brands Hatch, Assen, Oulton Park, Cadwell Park and Knockhill plus just about every other major circuit in the United Kingdom. Each round will host two races providing us with an eighteen race championship. None of this would have been possible without the support of our team members, Bassy and Gill, Alan Green, Colin Swinney, Paul Chaundy, Ray Rendell, Lucy Birkenhead and Steven Banks.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support for 2019 and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2019 season. Please help if you can to give the team and our young riders the chance to represent Britain at the highest level. Podium for Rendell and first points for Maguire

We were greeted with fine weather on both Friday and Saturday at Brands Hatch for the final round of the season. Ed was once again joined by young Scot Ross Maguire who would be making his Brands Hatch debut. Ed Rendell was impressive right from the start with second place in free practice one, qualified fourth and finished on the podium in third place. Ross qualified well while learning a new track and came home twelfth in the first race getting his name on the championship points table with four hard earned points.

Sunday was a disaster for many after heavy rain made the track very slippy. Ed had done everything right with new tyres and soft suspension settings but was caught out when he slid off on the warm up lap at very slow speed but the rules say you are not allowed to continue. Ross seemed to be enjoying the conditions and was up to sixth place when he too along with half the field slid off on the same corner as Ed. Thanks to Chris Pearce for the photos.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2019 season. Please help if you can to give the team and our riders the chance to represent Britain at the highest level. Thank you to all our sponsors, supporters and friends especially the hard working team members Bassy and Gill, Alan Green, Colin Swinney, Paul Chaundy, Paul Willcox, Lucy Birkenhead and Steven Banks and Ray Rendell. Massive thanks to Ed Rendell for always giving his best and showing he is one of the most talented and bravest riders out there enduring broken bones and pain but he never let that stop him.

Rendell storms to 7th from 27th on the grid

Mixed weather on most days at Oulton Park caused major upsets for many riders and teams and Ed Rendell and his Banks Racing team were left in 27th place on the grid for the main Sunday race after a major engine failure during the Saturday race. Grid positions for the Sunday race are determined by lap times in the Saturday race. Ed was in the fastest top five on Saturday when the engine failed, the race started wet but after Ed retired quickly dried out leaving him at the back of the grid. The track for Sunday was again wet then a drying track so overtaking was going to be difficult with only a narrow dry line but Ed made many moves in the first few laps and battled on to finish seventh. The result could have been even better but the race was shortened to ten laps leaving less time to make his way through.

The engine failure was catastrophic and leaves the team unsure of finishing the season so we would welcome any sponsorship or donations to help us finish the season off.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2018/2019 seasons.
