Rendell ends season with another top six finish

Ed Rendell rounded of a roller coaster year with another strong ride taking 6th place at the final race of the year at Brands Hatch. Ed started the season without a ride after plans to swap to Superstock 1000 fell through leaving him with no choice but to sit out the 2017 season. Bored with not riding Ed asked the Banks Racing team if he could do a wildcard ride on his last years bike just to have some fun. The race showed Ed had lost none of his passion to win and although out classed by newer machinery he proved that on the right bike he would be a force to be reckoned with so the team put the Honda he rode last year up for sale and the Rendell and Banks families along with some loyal sponsor managed to raise enough to buy a second hand ex Grand Prix KTM. On board the KTM Ed managed nine finishes in the top six including five podiums and a second place at Brands Hatch. The new bike was a lot different than the previous Honda so both rider and team were in at the deep end learning how to set up the KTM and with no practice on the machine the meetings were used as test days to enable the team to regroup and make a serious challenge on another British Championship title in 2018.

Sadly the learning curve was costly with engine failures and crashes but by the end of the season a clear plan was in place to be ready to make a title challenge next season. Only thing stopping us now is funding, the crashes and engine failures along with the struggle to buy the bike have left nothing in the kitty to prepare for 2018. We need two engine refresh kits at a cost of over £6000 and we are appealing for help to raise this money in November which is the cut-off point for orders to guarantee the parts will be here in time for testing in February. Of course a title sponsor would be fantastic and the bike could be liveried in a title sponsors colours and branding. We could also get there with lots of smaller sponsors and donations so if you would like to see Ed Rendell challenging for the title next year back with the Banks Racing team please don't hesitate to get in touch, we really do need your help no matter how small.

We are desperate to be back on the grid in 2018 but the unexpected engine failures this season has left the team with no winter budget to refresh engines for the start of the 2018 season Please help if you can to give the team and our riders the chance to represent Britain at the highest level. To contact the team call 07762 428210 or click here to email Peter or visit the team website.

There was over twenty races in our championship this year with most of them televised both in the UK, Europe and worldwide. British Superbike meetings have crowds up to 30,000 people on the day plus TV and media coverage. The switch over to Moto3 bikes has been expensive and the costs are still ongoing but we are determined to stay at the front and would welcome some additional support Every little bit will really help and go to make the bikes the best we can for the 2018 season. PayPal donations are also most welcome and can be made via the website.

Moreton rounds off rookie season with sixth place in championship

Sixteen year old Taylor Moreton in only his second year at BSB and his first in the Hel Motostar British Championships ended the season on a high with fifth and sixth places at the final race of the year at Brands Hatch. Taylor came to the championship with no experience of a GP spec bike but had an amazing first season finishing sixth in the hard fought championship, got his first podium at Thruxton and finished in the top six no less than nine times scoring a total of 193 points. No mechanical failures in the races and only one DNF at Assen when he fell heavily but bounced back to finish fifth at Brands Hatch in race one.

Taylor leaves the team for something new in 2018 and we wish him, his family and many supporters all the best for 2018. It has been a pleasure to work with Taylor and as a team we are very proud of his rookie year results.

We are desperate for a major backer which would allow us to upgrade to the latest engines and our bikes could be decorated in colours and design of their choice. Many thanks to Chris Pearce for the photos.

Rendell and Moreton score top six results

Ed Rendell narrowly missed out on a podium at last weekends Motostar Championship held on the famous Dutch TT circuit at Assen. The Motostar riders shared the track with a host of Dutch and German riders who were using different rules for their own championship. Ed just missed out on a podium when one of the overseas riders beat him to the line on a bike that appeared to be out of zinc with the Motostar rules but the result stood and takes nothing away from a great performance by Ed. Taylor also rode well securing a sixth place in a hard fought battle amongst many European riders. In Friday's free practice two Taylor showed what can be expected of him next season when he finished the session in fourth place only point seven of a second behind pole man Victor Rodriguez. Sadly both Taylor and Ed fell in their other races, fortunately without harm but both bikes suffered considerable damage and despite a limited end of season budget the team of Pete and Steven Banks are working hard to repair rather than replace parts in time for the final round of the season at Brands Hatch.

We are desperate to be back on the grid in 2018 but the unexpected engine failures this season has left the team with no winter budget to refresh engines for the start of the 2018 season Please help if you can to give the team and our riders the chance to represent Britain at the highest level. Mixed fortunes at Cadwell Park

Round eight of the Hel British Motostar Championship did not go to plan for riders Taylor Moreton and Ed Rendell and the team had much work to do over the weekend. Taylor only managed one lap in the first practice session returning to the pits with a misfiring engine. A quick engine change was done in time for Taylor to get back on track in session two but just as he was getting into his rhythm he slipped off meaning he only had a handful of laps in all day. Qualifying did not fare better when again he slipped off but despite the lack of track time Taylor brought it home in both races to score another twelve points taking his tally to an impressive 131 points.

Ed Rendell's weekend started off well with first and second in the two Friday sessions but the troubles began while warming up the KTM for qualifying. An unidentifiable sound from the engine meant we dare not let Ed go out so missing qualifying and having to once again start on the back of the grid for the first race of the weekend. With an untried engine fitted Ed made a good start and had somehow made his way up to third when he lost the front with just a few corners to go. Sunday was trouble free and Ed started from the front row to finish the race in a close third and only four and half seconds behind the winner Tom Booth Amos.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2017 season. We would welcome a major backer which would allow us to upgrade to the latest machinery which could be decorated in colours and design of their choice. Many thanks to Sovereign Motors of Ashington for their recent donation towards the recent engine problems the team have been experiencing.

First podium for Taylor Moreton and another for Ed Rendell

The team enjoyed one of their best weekends of the season when Taylor Moreton went one better than the previous round to put himself on the podium in third place. Taylor got on well with the circuit and was in the top three of speed and sector times most of the weekend and for race two where overall grid positions are from the Saturday's race fastest laps Taylor lined up second in his class and fourteenth place out of over thirty riders and ahead of many of the established open class KTM riders.

Ed Rendell was again on great form on the teams FTR KTM qualifying in second place, finishing a fraction of a second off the podium in the Saturday race and then backed up his Brands Hatch podium with third place. A great weekend and a pleasure to have two riders on the podium.

Rendell on podium and Moreton close to first podium in 4th place

Why not keep up with the team on Facebook for the very latest up to date news and what happens

Taylor Moreton riding the Banks Racing/Moto Engineering Honda Moto3 took a big step forward at Brands Hatch last weekend where he battled with many riders to achieve his best result of the season when he finished 4th and just one place off the podium. Not good news was the fact that at the end of the race his engine started smoking which will mean an expensive rebuild will be needed even though the engine is only half way through its expected mileage.

Ed Rendell also had a KTM engine fail when a valve head decided to let go causing extensive internal damage. It happened on the very first lap of qualifying which meant Ed had to once again start at the very back of the grid, very disappointing for Ed who had been fastest in FP1. With the spare untried engine fitted after some hard work by the team led by Bassy, Ed lined up in last position for the main Sunday race. A hectic first lap saw Ed up to 15th place and already in the points. Lap five he was 5th and with some spectacular overtaking was in 2nd place by lap seven and went on to finish on the podium alongside winner Tom Booth Amos and third place finisher Storm Stacey. A great weekend for the team with triple top four finishes but behind the scenes the team are now left with massive unexpected engine repair bills. Many thanks to Chris Pearce for the photos.

Tough weekend for Moreton and Rendell

Banks Racing riders suffered a tough three days at round five of the Hel Motostar British Championship held at Snetterton. Although the weather stayed dry all weekend gusting winds caused problems for Taylor. Being so small and light makes it difficult to transfer weight to the front of the bike so when there is a sudden gust of wind the front wheel goes light causing the bike to run wide but despite these problems Taylor pushed hard to secure 7th in his class on day one. Ed also finished 7th in his first outing of the day but after that never completed a lap until Sunday warm up due to and intermittent electrical problem.

Sunday was still windy but less than the previous day and Taylor made a good start and battled hard all race to finish 6th in his class and is just one point behind Charlie Atkins in the championship. With Ed's electrical problems sorted he started dead last on the grid but was mid pack in just a few laps. With three laps to go a group of eight riders were battling for the final podium place three seconds ahead of Ed. Learning more about the FTR KTM every lap and with confidence growing Ed closed the group down passing a few to finish 7th setting the third fastest lap of the race and perhaps had the race been a few laps longer a podium place was a strong possibility.

Strong points for Taylor Moreton at Brands Hatch

Sixteen year old Taylor Moreton put in another two great performances at round 2 of the Hel Motostar British Championship standard class at Brands Hatch recently. Taylor bagged another thirteen points and lies eighth in the championship and with several of the riders in front of him in their second year in the championship makes this result even more impressive because Taylor is a rookie rider in the Moto3 GP bike championship. Taylor put in a fantastic performance in race one catching a group in front of him who were all racing for fifth place. In race two Taylor suffered leg cramp but despite the discomfort fought on bringing the bike home to gain more very important points. Thanks to Craig Hobbs for the photo.

The championship moves on to Oulton Park on Monday May 1st with free practice and qualifying on the Saturday and Sunday

The team will be racing at all twelve rounds of the televised British Motostar Championship visiting such famous circuits as Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Cadwell Park, Knockhill and Assen plus just about every other major circuit in the United Kingdom.

Sixteen year old Taylor Moreton made his debut in the Hel Motostar British Championships at Donington Park last weekend. Riding the Banks Racing/Moto Engineering standard Honda NSF250R Moto3 bike he exceeded all the teams expectations qualifying eighth in his class and finishing seventh in race one and although hampered by a quickshift problem came home tenth in the second race. Scoring a total of fifteen points and currently lies eighth in the championship marking a brilliant debut for the Rookie rider.

The championship moves on to a four day meeting Brands Hatch on April 14th to April 17th and with some major changes to the bike regarding weight distribution , we needed to add several kilogram's of lead weight to the bike because Taylor is so small. The championship rules have a minimum weight restriction and by careful positioning of the extra weight we hope to make the bike easier to ride for Taylor. Major changes have also been made to the bikes suspension settings to suit Taylor's weight and we are all looking forward to continuing the learning process for both the rider and the team at Brands Hatch.

Banks Racing Winning Team British Motostar Championship 2014

Hel Motostar British Championships young riders academy

After four very successful seasons where Team Banks Racing finished runner up in the 2013 Motostar British Championship, were championship winners in 2014, finished third in 2015 and fourth in 2016 we are looking for sponsorship to help keep us on track and be in a position to challenge for top honours again in 2017. We will be running two Moto3 machines and have available our GP125 for occasional non BSB meetings. The change over from the Grand Prix two-stroke bikes to Moto3 machines has been costly and with the class being so new upgrades are needed each year but we now have the machinery to win and are desperate for additional backing in any shape or form to allow us to compete at the front. We have opportunities available from running the bikes in corporate colours right down to having a sticker on the bikes and mentions and links on our website, motorcycle press and local newspapers.

The team will be racing at all twelve rounds of the televised British Motostar Championship visiting such famous circuits as Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Cadwell Park, Knockhill and Assen plus just about every other major circuit in the United Kingdom. We are very excited to announce that Taylor Fox Moreton, runner up in last year's KTM 390 Cup Championship will be onboard one of our bright yellow Moto3 bikes and talks are still ongoing regarding the second rider.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2017 season. Please help if you can to give the team and our young riders the chance to represent Britain at the highest level. To contact the team call 07762 428210 or please email Pete by clicking here,
