Weather interrupts Donington Park final

Donington Park were hosts to the final round of the R&G British Talent Cup Championship held on the full GP length circuit. Alfie Davidson who had just set his best ever lap time round Donington Park was unfortunate to crash out on the last corner of the first race while challenging for seventh place after a light shower caught out several other riders too. Race two was a disaster for many as the heavens opened while on the grid. A quick change to wet tyres was made but we were unsure how wet it would stay so Alfie set off with only slightly softer suspension but the rain got heavier and we were no longer allowed to make changes. Alfie made a sensible choice to pull in as he was getting no feedback from the bike for the soaking wet track. Thanks to Glyn Richardson for the photo.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support for the 2024 season and we thank them for that. Like many others who are dedicated to our sport, next year will be a massive struggle financially and we would love to hear from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2024 season. This year the championship allowed more sophisticated data logging and suspension which has added unexpected costs to our budget so please help if you can to give the team and our young riders the chance to represent Britain at the highest level. Please help if you can. To contact the team call 07762 428210 or click here to email Peter or visit the team website www.banksracing125.com. PayPal donations can be left via our email address or just call for a chat. Thank you and look forward to seeing you trackside soon.

Thank you to all our friends, sponsors and supporters without them we could not go racing.

Banks Racing return at Oulton Park

Alfie Davidson got to ride the Banks Racing team bike for the first time in free practice 1 on Friday morning and went on to not only impress the team but many others in the R&G British Talent Cup Championship paddock.

Thank you to all teams, marshals, scrutineers and visitors to our awning for the much appreciated welcome back to BSB. Thanks to Steven Banks for driving the 440 mile round trip and setting up the team awning with help from John Davidson, Andrew Davidson and Mick. FP1 was the first time Alfie Davidson rode the new Banks Racing Honda 250 and did a brilliant job to come home with a 7th place only 4 seconds off the winner and setting a best lap time of 1minute 47.7 seconds which is under the previous lap record. My recovery from pelvis socket fracture continues with slow repairing nerve damage the main problem.

Message from Banks Racing

Hi all,

Just a bit of an update on my recovery from my broken pelvis socket known as Acetabular fracture. After laying outside for two hours in the cold and occasional rain waiting for the ambulance the crew were unable to find a vain to give me morphine due to how cold I was so getting me into the ambulance was a painful nightmare and I developed pneumonia but soon got that under control at the RVI Newcastle. After two operations I stopped eating as I felt so bad but glad to say when I finally got home the appetite came back. After the x ray at twelve weeks my surgeon said repair was going as expected and he would arrange physiotherapy to start in the next two to three weeks to get me walking without crutches.

Within one week both crutches were gone but then the physio exercises with elastic bands started causing pain and meant I was limping again so eased off a bit. Also not getting any sleep caused by lower leg nerve pain with lower back pain to. Another trip to doctors and physio is helping with medication and exercises. I think the physio is right saying the back and leg nerve pain is caused by months of lying in bed propped up in a banana shape affecting the nerves in my lumbar region so doing all I can to find other positions to relax comfortably. Alfie Davidson and his dad have been doing a cracking job running their own bike while I recover and Alfie although plagued with a couple of issues at the first two rounds at Silverstone and Donington Park immediately showed his pace was good this year and capable of top six results in just his second season running similar positions to Harrison Crosby in his second year.

I can drive the car now the thirty mile round trip for physio but still have restricted movement to work the clutch on the race van due to muscle and nerve damage but that is improving steadily too. Sad not to be at Silverstone GP and Thruxton but there is quite a break after Thruxton so fully hoping to be at Oulton and Donington fingers crossed. I have to mention my team sponsors and supporters who have been so understanding both forwarding and pledging money to both help towards the purchase of the new bike and the allowed upgrades needed to run a bike at the front of the championship, you really are the best kind of people out there.

Thank you,

Peter Banks.

Banks Racing Cup Season Preview

With the new season fast approaching we are looking forward to another year with Alfie Davidson from Leyland in Lancashire. Alfie joined the team last year riding his own bike alongside Harrison Crosby. Harrison has moved on to the Superstock class and Alfie takes over the Banks Racing team bike which is undergoing the final stages of a full rebuild ready for the official test at Silverstone in April. Alfie who turns fifteen in a few days time was due to join the Honda British Talent Cup Championship at the start of the 2021 season but a serious leg injury before round one kept him out of the championship for the whole season but made his debut as a rookie last season showing great dedication and continued to progress all through the season as his fitness improved. Nice photo of Alfie in action on his own bike and for this year he will be running his favourite #8. Please come and meet the team if you are passing the awning.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support for the 2023 season and we thank them for that.
