Banks Racing Winning Team British Motostar Championship 2014

Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Brands Hatch

Sponsorship Opportunities for 2016

After three very successful seasons where Team Banks Racing finished runner up in the 2013 British Motostar Championship, won it in 2014 and finished third in 2015 we are looking for sponsorship to help keep us on track and be in a position to challenge for top honours again in 2016. We will be running two Moto3 machines and have available our GP125 for selected wild card outings. The change over from 125 bikes to Moto3 machines has been costly but we now have the machinery to win and are looking for backing in any shape or form. We have opportunities available from running the bikes in corporate colours right down to having a sticker on the bikes and mentions and links on our website.

The team will be racing at all twelve rounds of the televised Motostar British Championship visiting such famous circuits as Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Cadwell Park, Knockhill and Assen plus just about every other major circuit in the United Kingdom.

Some of our long-term sponsors have already pledged their support and we thank them for that and look forward to hearing from both new and old sponsors who are able to come on board for the 2016 season. To contact the team call 07762 428210 or email Pete by clicking here or for full contact details visit the team website.

Thank you to all our sponsors, supporters and friends.

Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Brands Hatch

Ed Rendell secures 3rd place and Liam Delves 4th place in British Championships

The final round of the Hel Motostar British Championship took place at Brands Hatch last week. Both riders were already in creditable positions in the championship but they both knew they had to score points to secure those positions so the pressure was on. Saturday's race saw Ed start from twelfth position on the grid after a fall in qualifying. Ed quickly made his way through the field to take a great twelfth podium of the year and secure third in the British Championships. Liam brought the GP125 home in fifth place to strengthen his forth place in the championship. Sundays race was a spectacular affair with Ed dicing all the way with new champion Scott Deroue. The lead changed several times and on the last corner of the last lap Ed was unlucky to tuck the front and crash out what had been one of the best races of the season. Liam was still under pressure and needed to score points to hold on to his forth place in the championship and he did that with great maturity bringing it home with enough points to finish a fantastic forth in the championship in his very first year. Thanks to Chris Pearce for the photos.

Ed’s plans for 2016 are undecided yet so we will wait a few more weeks to see if Ed or someone else will be onboard the Ten Kate Moto3. We would like to see Liam on one of the new standard Moto3’s that are running in the Motostar championship next year but we need a little help to make this happen as we will need other extras like spare wet weather wheels and suspension upgrades to give Liam a chance in this new class.

There are 22 races in our championship this year with most of them televised both in the UK and worldwide and with the reigning champion riding with the number 1 plate on board one of our bikes this is a perfect time to think about becoming a sponsor to our team. British Superbike meetings have crowds up to 30,000 people on the day plus TV and media coverage. The switch over to a Moto3 bike has been expensive and the costs are still on going but we are determined to stay at the front and desperately need more help especially during this change over year. If you can help in any way at all call Pete on 07762 428 210, email Pete by clicking here or for full contact details visit the team website www.banksracing125.com. Every little bit will really help and go to make the bikes the best we can for the 2016 season. PayPal donations can be made via the website or to the email address on here.

Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Silverstone

Double podiums for Rendell and Delves at Silverstone

Team riders Ed Rendell and Liam Delves did the Northumberland based Banks Racing team proud with both riders on the podium twice over the weekend. Rendell challenged for the lead on both days putting the Ten Kate Honda at the front on several occasions. Saturdays race was a three-way battle between former Grand Prix rider Scott Deroue, Taz Taylor and Ed. Spanish Championship competitor Dani Saez retired on lap one with a technical problem. Sunday's live television race was a similar affair but this time Dani Saez was in the mix until he crashed out after a few laps. All three riders were under the existing lap record by almost a second. Liam Delves was again delivering much more than was expected of him. It was his first visit to the super fast Formula 1 3.6 mile circuit but Liam did the team proud with his two 3rd podium places. Ed is now only one point short of securing 3rd place in the British Motostar Championship which will back up his 2nd place in 2013 and his win in the championship last year. Liam has a battle on his hands in 4th place in the GP125 Championship and a couple of good rides could move him to 3rd or even 2nd in his championship. Final round of the year is at Brands Hatch on the 16th 17th and 18th of October.

Running alongside the GP125 and Moto3 machines in the Motostar Championship next year is a new class aimed at reducing costs. The class will debut standard Honda Moto3 bikes. No tuning or upgrades will be allowed and the bikes are being made available at less than half price at just £10,000. We would really like to see Liam graduate to this class next year and we are looking for sponsors to help the team buy one of these discounted bikes for Liam. Please get in touch if you would like to help.

Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Assen

Podium each for Rendell and Delves at the Cathedral of Speed Assen

Ed Rendell still riding with broken bones in his foot raced to a brilliant second place in Round 10 of the Hel Motostar British Championship at the super fast Assen circuit in the Netherlands. The circuit, better known as the Cathedral of Speed and home of the famous Dutch TT MotoGP race was plagued with mixed weather that caused several interruptions over the weekend. The main Motostar race did not escape and was stopped after just four laps when rain started to fall. The restart was a tricky affair with one half of the track dry and one half wet. Ed got a steady start to the shortened race but was quickly up to third with Taz Taylor and Scott Deroue out in front. Taylor's bad luck continued from the last two rounds and he crashed out on the last lap leaving Ed to come home a comfortable second.

Liam in his first race at the Dutch venue made a great job of learning the circuit and brought the Banks Racing Honda RS125 GP bike home in 3rd place to secure his 5th podium of the year. Ed was rewarded with his 9th podium of the year bringing an impressive total of 14 podiums for the team this year. Next round is on the F1 circuit at Silverstone October 3rd and 4th so please call and to meet the team.

We have been unfortunate in the last few rounds to suffer crashes and technical problems that has seriously affected the seasons budget and if there is anyone able to help both Ed and the team please get in touch and thanks to those who have already dug deep to keep the team on track this year. Photos from Steven Banks of Ed on the podium and the bikes set up in the Assen garage.

Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Oulton Park

Podium number four for Delves and solid points for injured Rendell Stechford teenager Liam Delves produced one of his best rides of the year when he clinched his 4th podium of the year at Oulton Park. Liam qualified 6th in the 125 GP class and finished 3rd in the race passing championship leader Josh Owens on the last lap. Liam's rookie year is going exactly to plan. This was the second visit to Oulton this year and although the bike is still exactly the same Liam is learning to adapt himself to the proven set-up of the bike and now the results are coming. The team are very proud of Liam's progress that will now see him ahead of several of his rivals who are in their second season of BSB racing.

The team could not have asked for more from Ed Rendell. Riding with three breaks in his left gear change foot Ed despite sitting out two of the four testing sessions qualified on the second row. With the race being more laps than he had completed in each practice session Ed had to ride through the pain barrier to bring home his Banks Racing Honda Moto3 in a very brave 6th place. He only lost a few points to his nearest rival in the championship Dani Saez who finished 4th. There are six races left with a total of 150 points available so it is still mathematically possible for Ed to win the championship. Only Ed, Taz Taylor and Scott Deroue are championship contenders now. Next round is Assen in the Netherlands and although Ed will not be fully fit we know he will do all he can to score as many points as possible in his quest to finish in the top three of the Moto3 championship in his first year in the Moto3 class. Thanks to Gill Sweeney for the photos.

We have been unfortunate in the last few rounds to suffer crashes and technical problems that has seriously affected the seasons budget and if there is anyone able to help both Ed and the team please get in touch and thanks to those who have already dug deep to keep the team on track this year.

Banks Racing Winning Team British Motostar Championship 2014

Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Cadwell Park

Round 8 of the Hel Motostar British Championship proved a tough round for both riders over the weekend. Liam Delves who also competes in the NGRRC championships suffered a crash only six days before Cadwell while racing the Moto Engineering 125 at Anglesey. He sustained injuries to his hand, arm, knee and foot but bravely decided to go ahead and race at Cadwell. Not an easy circuit to ride when you are carrying just one injury never mind several. Liam scored good points in both races and moved up to 4 th in the championship.

Ed started the weekend in very good form and both he and the Ten Kate Honda were performing very well. Ed managed to split the KTM’s of Scott Deroue and Taz Taylor to claim second place on the front row of the grid. At the start Ed got out dragged to the first corner and then was in the usual five way battle for the lead. He could see Scott and Taz getting away so made a move to get past Charlie Nesbitt and Dani Saez and then set about the two in front. He had taken almost a second out of them when disaster struck, Ed fell at Charlies corner in a high speed crash and broke some bones in his foot leaving him unfit to race in the second race.

The team were still lucky enough to secure a podium when the teams data engineer Alan Green dressed as pit lane commentator Larry Carter finished 3rd and on the podium of the CJ Cycle race. Many thanks to all those who made donations to this very important charity which makes BSB the safest track event in the country.

We have been unfortunate in the last few rounds to suffer crashes and technical problems that has seriously affected the seasons budget and if there is anyone able to help both Ed and the team please get in touch and thanks to those who have already dug deep to keep the team on track this year. Hel Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Thruxton

The fast and bumpy Hampshire track of Thruxton was host to round 7 of the Hel Motostar British Championship meeting and it was a tough one for Ed Rendell. A technical problem in the first qualifying session meant Ed had to sit out half the session but managed to hang on to 3rd place. An overnight engine change and still on the same used tyres saw Ed finish qualifying in 4th place. Saturdays race was a spectacular five rider battle and on the last lap Ed challenged Scott Deroue for the win only to hit a bump that resulted in a heavy crash at over 100 miles per hour. Ed returned to the circuit for Sunday’s race very much bruised and battered but decided he would give the race ago. Again it was a five way battle for the lead with all five riders going under the lap record. By mid distance Ed had to settle for 5th place with the bike just not feeling right after the overnight rebuild so brought it home to earn some points to keep his title hopes a live.

Fifteen year old Liam Delves had two strong finishes and jumped up to 4th in his championship. A slow start in the first race saw Liam having to chase down other riders but in race two Liam was in a three way battle for 3rd place and after a fall for another rider Liam came home with his best ever result and on the podium in 2nd place. A brilliant and brave effort from both riders although for slightly different reasons. The next round is at Cadwell Park on August 23rd and hope to see some of you there. Thanks to Polarity Photography and Darren Stevens for the photos.

Hel Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Brands Hatch

Round 6 of the Hel Motostar British Championships did not go to plan for both riders at Brands Hatch. Ed and several other Motostar riders including teammate Liam Delves were struggling for feel from the front end so free practice and first qualifying was spent trying different set-ups. Ed crashed at Graham Hill bend fortunately causing minor damage to him but leaving the bike needing a new fairing, seat, quickshifter rods etc but the team soon had the bike back together. Liam’s bike suffered a cracked cylinder head while being warmed up and was gutted to sit out second qualifying.

Saturdays sprint race saw Ed run off the track at the first corner and the short race only gave him enough time to make his way back up to 8th. Due to missing a session Liam was still learning the track but did well finish 9th in his class. Race 2 was looking better for Ed when he got away with Taylor, Deroue and Saez with Charlie Nesbitt right on his tail. Charlie tried a pass at the end of the long back straight but unfortunately clipped Ed’s bike causing Charlie to crash spectacularly but fortunately without injury. Ed stayed upright but was off the track travelling at high speed on the grass. He rejoined the race in 10th place and after catching the group in front of him he passed 5 riders in one lap. A couple of laps later he caught and passed 3rd place rider Spaniard Dani Saez and after a great battle with Dani came home 3rd to claim another podium. Liam improved every lap as he got used to the Brands Hatch GP circuit coming home in 8th place and moving into 5th in his championship. Next round is the fast and bumpy Thruxton circuit on August 1st and 2nd. Thanks to Chris Pearce for the photos.

Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Knockhill

Podiums for both Ed Rendell and Liam Delves

Banks Racing riders Ed Rendell and Liam Delves did the team proud at the exciting Knockhill circuit when they both secured podium finishes. In race one on Saturday held in beautiful conditions Ed was involved in a four-way battle for the win. Taz Taylor managed to gap Ed, Dutchman Scott Deroue and Spaniard Danny Saez leaving the others to battle for 2nd place. Ed was in 3rd place going into the hairpin on the last lap and as he attempted to pass Scott Deroue, Danny Saez made it through on the inside leaving Ed slightly off line out of the last corner leaving him no option but to accept 4th place. The pace was so fast with all four riders breaking the lap record. Ed finished up with the 2nd fastest lap of the race that promoted him to 2nd place on the front row for race two. Liam in his first visit to Knockhill did a fantastic job and beat many of his rivals to finish 3rd and earned his first podium of the year.

Race two looked like being another record breaking race but just five minutes before the start light rain started falling forcing all riders to change to wet tyres. The tyre budget had already been stretched as new slicks were fitted for both qualifying and the first race then a third set for the final race. The only wets we had on wheels were a pair of well used 2 year old ones we expected to use in a wet free practice session so we had no choice but to go with them. Taz Taylor set off a fast pace pulling a gap straight away. Ed was fifth at the first corner but up to second by turn 3 and set about catching up Taz. A few laps later he caught Taz and took the lead but the tyres had done too much and Ed had to slow to ensure a finish. Deroue had found his form on the damp track passing both Ed and Taz only to loose out to Taz at the last corner. Liam had another great race dicing with championship leader Josh Owens and came home with another well earned podium. The championship is truly International now with only Ed and Taz from the UK in the top six of the rankings. Thanks to Steven Banks for the team photo.

Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Snetterton

Double podium for Rendell and 7th place for rookie Delves

14 year old rookie Liam Delves made great progress over the weekend at a track he had never seen before. Liam had only one free practice session to learn the three mile long fast Snetterton circuit before the qualifying sessions and he did a great job improving his lap times every session and finished the weekend with a fine 7th place in his class.

Ed Rendell showed that he is close to getting the best out of the Ten Kate Moto3 despite no off season testing by challenging championship leader Taz Taylor and Scott Deroue every inch of the way in both races at the super fast Snetterton 300 circuit finishing in third place less than half a second behind. The next round of the championship is Knockhill which will be another new circuit for Liam to learn but both riders are looking forward to the demanding elevation changes that Knockhill offers.

Second place for Ed Rendell and 7th for Liam Delves

Ed Rendell continued to make up for no off season testing at all by securing a 2nd place podium finish and now lies a comfortable 3rd in the Hel Motostar British Championships only 2 points behind Scott Deroue. Teammate Liam Delves again shocked us with the speed he is learning to ride a GP twostroke bike at the highest level in the country by bringing home another 10 points and now lies 7th in his championship. We now go into a six week break but we will continue to work hard on further improvements to both bikes. Thanks to Barry Clay and Visordown for the photos.

Banks Racing Winning Team British Motostar Championship 2014

Hel Motostar British Championship 2015 Brands Hatch Indy Circuit Round 2

Double podium for Ed Rendell and big points haul for Liam Delves

Ed Rendell continued to make up for no off season testing at all by securing two 3rd place podiums and now lies a comfortable 3rd in the Hel Motostar British Championships. Teammate Liam Delves also shocked us with the speed he is learning to ride a GP twostroke bike at the highest level in the country by bringing home another 15 points and now lies 7th in his championship.

There are 22 races in our championship this year with most of them televised both in the UK and worldwide and with the reigning champion riding with the number 1 plate on board one of our bikes this is a perfect time to think about becoming a sponsor to our team. British Superbike meetings have crowds up to 30,000 people on the day plus TV and newspaper coverage. We have a great Moto3 chassis package but we don’t have the highest spec engines and we are now hoping for more help so we can give Ed the very best that he deserves. The switch over to a Moto3 bike has been expensive and the costs are still on going but we are determined to stay at the front and desperately need more help especially during this change over year. PayPal donations can be made via the website.

We said goodbye to a good friend and sponsor today. Ivan sponsored Banks Racing way back in 2000 when Alan Green was our rider. He then retired to France but after loosing his wife Pat he returned to England a couple of years ago. He joined the team again last year and his support played a big part in the team and Ed winning the British Championship and winning the Champion of Champions crown. Ivan was excited about the 2015 season and was all set to be part of the team again but sadly fell ill and passed away last week. We will all miss him more as a friend than a sponsor. R.I P. Ivan. Picture is of Ivan and his daughter Lynne

Thank you to all our sponsors, supporters and friends for making 2014 one of the most successful to date.

British Motostar Championship 2015

With the 2015 British Motostar Championship only a few weeks away Banks Racing are pleased to announce they will be entering two riders this season. We are very pleased to announce that current British Champion Ed Rendell has re-signed for the team and will be riding the 2013 championship winning Moto3 250 cc machine. 14 year old Liam Delves, the current NGRRC Formula 125 champion joins the team to take over the Honda RS125 vacated by Ed.

We are really looking forward to the new season and doing all we can to help both riders face new challenges. One or two of our sponsors have already supported the team to help with the expensive rebuilds needed during the winter months and we would be very grateful to any of our current sponsors or potential new sponsors if they could get in touch to let us know their plans. Speaking of new sponsors we are pleased to announce Motul will be backing both our 125 and 250 bikes and would just like to say a massive thankyou for their support. Also NGK Spark Plugs have again pledged their support for this season and again thanks to them.
